TTerm Connect offers several deployment configurations whose suitability will depend on various factors such as the size of the intended user base, performance requirements or the need for redundancy.
This feature is available in TTerm Connect 2.0 and above.
A TTerm Connect installation consists of one or more servers, which are collectively known as a pool.
A TTerm Connect pool can operate in one of three distinct modes; single server mode, load balancing mode and a redundant pool mode. The initial operating mode is determined at time of installation but may be altered afterwards.
Single Server
For smaller sites TTerm Connect can operate in a mode where it runs as a single, stand-alone server. This mode offers no redundancy and internal load balancing only (that is, multiple independent processes called emulation services facilitate host connectivity). Maximum user numbers are dependent on hardware capabilities.
Redundant Pool
A redundant pool consists of two or more servers in the pool without inter-server load balancing. An end user is assigned to one server and all their host sessions will run on that server. A failure on any individual server will result in reduced capacity but host connectivity will still be available to all users.
Load Balancing Pool
A load balancing pool consists of two or more servers in the pool where host sessions will be spread amongst the servers. New host sessions are automatically assigned to the least loaded server.
Pool modes can be set, and servers can be added or removed from a pool from the Dashboard > Server Configuration page, under the System tab.
